Wike Applauds Tinubu For Terminating Emefiele’s Position As CBN Governor

Late on Friday, Tinubu ordered Emefiele to immediately turn over the bank’s Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), Folashodun Shonubi. Tinubu also suspended Emefiele.

Nyesom Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, praised President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove Godwin Emefiele as the CBN’s governor.

Late on Friday, Tinubu suspended Emefiele and ordered him to give over the bank’s Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), Folashodun Shonubi, right away.Wike, who was one of Emefiele’s detractors for his policies, particularly the redesign of the Naira, responded to the news by calling the President’s choice bold and opportune.According to a statement released by his media team, the former governor of Rivers State also praised President Tinubu for establishing uniformity in the retirement age and pension of judges across the nation.He claimed that the President’s decision will give the country’s judiciary a fresh start.
