We’re Closest to People, Use Us to Tackle Insecurity, Ooni Tells Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has been challenged by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, to deploy traditional rulers, who are the closest to the people, to address the problem of insecurity plaguing the country.

Ooni provided the advice on Friday while the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) paid the President a courtesy visit at the State House in Abuja.

The co-chair of Nigeria’s traditional rulers and its traditional ruler added, “There are some areas we’d like to collaborate with you on, one of which is security. We are not suggesting that we are lazy; rather, it is time to use us more. however, use us to make your task easier.

“The traditional kings formed the basis of our nation as it is now. We’re here to show our allegiance and support. To make sure you leave a legacy, we want to collaborate with you.

“Don’t underestimate what traditional rulers can do”, he said.
