Video: New Alaafin of Oyo calls for unity ahead of coronation in April

The newly appointed Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has urged the people of Oyo and its environs to unite and support him as he begins his reign.

In a video message, Oba Owoade emphasized the importance of unity, stating, “I want unity in Oyo, and I know that with your support, by God’s grace, all the good plans I have for the people of Oyo will be fulfilled.”

The Oyo State Government has set April 5, 2025, as the date for Owoade’s coronation.

To ensure a successful event, a 25-member coronation committee was inaugurated on February 3, 2025.

The committee comprises representatives from the Alaafin’s palace, state government officials, and other key stakeholders.

Governor Seyi Makinde presented the staff of office to Oba Owoade on January 13, 2025, marking the official commencement of his reign as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.

The coronation committee’s inauguration was presided over by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Ademola Ojo.
