The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an Enugu-based Point of Sale (POS) operator, Okolonkwo Ebere Theresa, for attempting to smuggle illicit drugs through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Okolonkwo was apprehended during routine checks while boarding a flight to Doha, Qatar. NDLEA operatives discovered 1.40 kilogrammes of methamphetamine concealed in butt pad underwear she was wearing.

Spokesman of the agency said the suspect, who runs a POS business in Enugu, was placed under surveillance following intelligence reports before her eventual arrest.

The agency added that the interception is part of ongoing efforts to curb the smuggling of dangerous narcotics through Nigeria’s airports and warned traffickers that its operatives remain on high alert across all entry and exit points.
