Ugandan Music Legend’s Body Exhumed 20 Years After Death Over Paternity Dispute – Only 4 of 25 Children Are His
Nearly 20 years after his death, the body of legendary Ugandan musician Paul Job Kafeero has been exhumed for DNA testing to resolve a long-standing paternity dispute among his 25 children.
Kafeero, who died in 2007 at the age of 36, left behind a multi-billion Ugandan shilling estate, including land, houses, and music royalties. For nearly two decades, his 25 children and their mothers fought over the inheritance, leading the court to order the exhumation of his remains.
On June 1, 2026, his body was exhumed, and bone and tissue samples were collected for DNA testing. The results, released on June 25, 2026, confirmed that only 4 out of the 25 children are biologically his. The other 21 children were not his.
The ruling brings an end to the long-standing dispute, with only the four biological children now entitled to a share of the estate.
