State police would have prevented current Insecurity, Says Gov. Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has emphasized the need for state police, citing its potential to address the country’s current insecurity challenges.

In an interview on Channels Television, Governor Sani stressed that if state police had been established three years ago, the country would not be facing its present security problems.

The Governor’s statement comes as the National Economic Council (NEC) discusses the creation of state police.

According to Governor Sani, 36 states have submitted their positions on the matter, with most Governors supporting the establishment of state police.

Governor Sani explained that state police would provide an additional layer of security, allowing for more effective policing and addressing the unique security challenges faced by each state.

He emphasized that the current federal police structure is insufficient to address the country’s security needs.

The creation of state police has been a topic of discussion in Nigeria for some time, with proponents arguing that it would improve security and opponents raising concerns about potential abuses of power.
