Seyi Makinde reinstates suspended monarch in Oyo

The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has reinstated a traditional ruler, Oba Gbolagade Muritala Babalola, of Ido land six months after his suspension.

This was made known by the Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, when presenting the reinstatement letter to the Oba on Tuesday.

The YorubaTimes recalls that Onido of Ido, Oba Gbolagade, was suspended by the state Government on February 2, 2024, following an intelligent reports because of an intelligence report linking him to illegal mining in the Local Government area.

The YorubaTimes was informed that the suspension letter was jointly signed by the Governor of the State, Seyi Makinde, alongside the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola.

In the reinstatement letter presented, the LG Chairman said the State Government, under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde will continue to make traditional institution to remain a stabilizing force in communities and in the state as a whole.

According to Adeojo, he commended, Governor Seyi Makinde for his support and believes that the traditional institution remains the backbone of any government as a result of their closeness to the people of the grassroots.

Adeojo said governor Makinde believes that the government, at all levels, could not afford to jeopardize the roles of traditional rulers in collaboration for good governance and security of communities within their domains.

He, thereafter, urged Oba Muritala Babalola (Gbadewolu I) to continue to use his position to promote peace in Ido local Government.
