Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has called for the funding of the proposed state police services to be established as a first-line charge in the 1999 Constitution, arguing that this is the only way to protect it from possible interference by state governors.
Speaking on Wednesday, Bamidele stressed that without constitutional protection, state governors could manipulate the system to serve their interests rather than the public good.
