A Yoruba lady, Sekinat Taiwo, has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest distance covered by an electric auto-rickshaw in 12 hours.

Taiwo, who hails from Nigeria’s southwestern region, successfully covered a staggering 347 kilometers on a closed circuit at the National Theatre in Lagos State.

According to Olabanjo Alimi, CEO of Qoray Mobility and Energies Limited, “This is not just a record for Qoray – it’s a milestone for Nigeria and the global transition to sustainable transport.

β€œThis achievement lays the foundation for clean, accessible, and efficient transportation driven by solutions that come from the heart of Africa.”

Taiwo’s remarkable feat was made possible through the collaboration of key partners, including the National Theatre, which provided its premises for mock tests and served as the venue for the record-breaking attempt.

Alimi praised Taiwo, saying, “Sekinat Taiwo, whose endurance and skill brought this record to life, embodies determination and possibility.

β€œHer remarkable achievement sends a clear message: African solutions, powered by innovation, can rival the best on the global stage.”

The record-breaking attempt was certified by Guinness World Records adjudicator Carl Saville, who recognized Taiwo’s achievement as a new world record.

Alimi added, “This record-breaking feat is more than an achievement for Qoray Mobilityβ€”it promises a cleaner, greener, and brilliantly innovative future.”
