Saying the Truth: Death, threats don’t scare

Until the day I die, every January 15, I will tell the truthful story of those who were slaughtered like goats on January 15, 1966, after building the greatest and most economically prosperous nation on Earth. If you do not like it, save yourself from heartache and stop following me.

Their deaths set back Nigeria at least fifty years. Maybe more. Under my watch, they will not be forgotten because their memories inconvenience some people whose agenda is not too far off from the schemers behind the January 15, 1966 putsch.

You should know by now that I am not a coward and have absolutely no fear of death.

Look at my lifestyle. I surf, parachute, climb mountains, sit at the edge of waterfalls, visit war zones, tangle with lions and other wild animals, and fought military dictators when I was a teenager, etc.

So, who are you, as an Obidient, to think you can threaten me? Your threats energise me. Your abuses are an elixir to me. And your insults exalt my already strong will.

I am a historian and writer. If people like me do not write about the truth of what occurred on January 15, 1966, mark my words, it will happen again!

As George Santayana and Winston Churchill said: Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Just look at the behaviour displayed by some people during the 2023 campaign season and election. Threats, intimidation, abuse, blackmail, bullying, beatings, propaganda, publishing indecent images of their political opponents and those who disagree with them, and the composition and spread of provocative songs.

Then they attempted to cancel out national heroes and icons, like Professor Wole Soyinka, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Sam Omatseye, and Muktar Shagari, and even President Obasanjo, after he slightly deviated from their agenda after the election, in the interest of national healing.

The exact behaviours that triggered the Nigerian Civil War.

So, if you do not want me to write about these events, you better find a way to either kill me or wait until I die. Because, year in and year out, I will speak for Mrs. Latifah Ademulegun and Hajia Hagsatu Bello, who were brutally and unnecessarily killed in front of their underaged children by men who hours later were laughing uproariously.
May God grant them al-Jannah Firdaus.
