14th Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II, has led an independent delegation to meet with Niger Republic Coup Leader, General Abdourahmane Tchiani, in Niamey, Niger, to discuss the country’s political situation.
Presidential Assistant, Tope Ajayi, said the former Emir of Kano met the Niger junta on his own volition and not on behalf of the Federal government.
He said: “He is not an emissary of the President. He is a leader of an Islamic sect too, with influence across West and Central Africa. He just wanted to help douse the situation. But he informed the President of his engagement though”
