The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has strongly condemned Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s criticism of police officers deployed to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) office.
The police deployment was in compliance with a Federal High Court judgment.
The APC described Fubara’s comments as an attempt to blackmail the police and undermine the rule of law.
In a statement, the APC Rivers State chapter said, “We are appalled by Governor Fubara’s reckless and inflammatory statements aimed at intimidating the police and obstructing justice.”
The party reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the law and respecting the court’s decision. “We will continue to support the police in enforcing the court judgment and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process,” the statement added.
The APC also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for adhering to the court’s directive on the voter register. “INEC’s stance demonstrates its commitment to transparency and fairness,” the party said.
Meanwhile, the APC urged Rivers residents to disregard calls for election boycott, emphasizing the importance of participating in the democratic process.
