Rain Wreaks Havoc in Plateau Communities, Destroys 150 Houses

September 18, 2023 1 min read

A torrential downpour Saturday evening destroyed over 150 houses in Anguwan Rogo, Rikkos, Bauchi Road and Naraguta communities of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

A resident of Bauchi Road, Mallam Tanko Alhassan, told newsmen that though no life was lost, the flood wreaked so much havoc in the area, washing away houses and other properties.

“The flood didn’t claim any life, but because it was huge, it destroyed over 150 houses, displacing residents.

“These people have lost all their properties and are left with nothing”, he said.

Another victim, Salamatu Aliu, said: “The flood took us by surprise. We never expected it. The heavy rain has destroyed my house and that of my neighbour as well as several other homes in Anguwan Rogo.

“We are calling on government and public -spirited individuals to come to our rescue because we are in serious distress.”
