President Bola Tinubu has lauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for his exceptional leadership in overseeing the reconstruction of a major road in Abuja.

The road, named after the late Nigerian nationalist Chief Obafemi Awolowo, stretches from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road 3 in the Federal Capital Territory.

During the inauguration of the road, Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, commended Wike and the entire FCT administration for their dedication to completing the project.

“This road represents what we can achieve when vision meets action,” Tinubu said.

“It reflects our commitment to delivering modern infrastructure that improves the daily lives of our people.”

The President emphasized that the road’s completion would significantly enhance traffic circulation in surrounding districts, including Dape, Gwarinpa 1, Kado, Karsana, Idu, and Mbora.

“With the commissioning of this road, traffic gridlock around Life Camp Junction and surrounding neighborhoods will greatly improve,” he added.

Wike, in his remarks, disclosed that compensation had been paid to residents whose properties were affected by the construction, contrary to claims of exclusion.

“If someone lives in a house and we are bringing it down, they must be paidβ€”indigene or not,” he stated, highlighting his personal involvement in resolving community issues that threatened the project’s progress.

Wike also noted the importance of hands-on leadership, saying, “It’s one thing to award a project, it’s another thing entirely to complete it.”

He expressed confidence that Phase 2 of the project would be commissioned before the end of the year, extending the road to the bridge and into the next village.

Tinubu praised Wike’s leadership, describing the road as a legacy of fast-thinking leadership.

“I sincerely commend the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the entire FCT administration, and the residents and stakeholders who have been integral to this project,” he said.
