The Director General of the South West Nigeria Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, has expressed heartfelt appreciation and commendation to President Bola Tinubu for establishing the South West Development Commission (SWDC).
This commission aims to drive accelerated development throughout the South West region, catering to the six states in the geopolitical zone, including Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti.
The SWDC represents a transformative initiative for the region, focusing on addressing infrastructural deficits, promoting economic growth, and tackling environmental and ecological issues.
The commission’s key objectives include reconstructing and rehabilitating vital infrastructure, stimulating economic growth through strategic investments, and addressing unique environmental challenges such as soil erosion, flooding, and pollution.
The establishment of the SWDC is expected to bring numerous benefits to the South West region, including improved infrastructure, economic empowerment, and an enhanced quality of life.
The commission will enhance the development of critical infrastructure, create job opportunities, and stimulate sustained economic growth in the region.
Under the leadership of His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, the South West Nigeria Council of Traditional Rulers is committed to collaborating with the government to ensure the success of the SWDC.
The council expresses optimism that the commission will serve as a catalyst for development, economic growth, and an improved quality of life for Nigerians.
