The Lagos Police Command has successfully recovered and returned N1 million extorted from three National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members by four rogue police officers in Surulere, Lagos.
The officers allegedly demanded the money after the corps members failed to produce a physical copy of their driver’s license. Additionally, they forced one of the corps members to transfer Bitcoin worth $842.
Oluyemi Fasipe, who brought the incident to light, praised the efforts of Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, and the Lagos State NYSC in resolving the matter.
Hundeyin confirmed that the officers involved have been identified and are undergoing interrogation. The police trial will determine their culpability, potentially leading to dismissal.
Giving an update on Friday, October 4, Fasipe tweeted: “The rogue men of the Area C command of the @LagosPoliceNG who extorted over 1 million naira from the corp members have refunded the money.
“I am patiently waiting for the outcome of their trial. I like to appreciate @BenHundeyin and the @officialnyscng Lagos State for their efforts too.
“I also like to use the opportunity to say hello to my friend in Delta State, @Brightgoldenboy.”
