President Bola Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with Ogoni leaders, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, January 21.

The meeting aimed to address key issues affecting the Ogoni people, including the potential resumption of oil exploration activities in Ogoni oil fields and the progress of the Ogoni cleanup project.

In attendance were traditional rulers, clergy, and political leaders from the Ogoni region.

Although details of the meeting remain undisclosed, President Tinubu assured the Ogoni leaders that his administration would prioritize peace, justice, and sustainable development in the area

The meeting was seen as a crucial step towards finding lasting solutions to the lingering challenges in Ogoniland, including environmental degradation and economic stagnation.
