Ondo State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, FCA, has extended warm congratulations to elder statesman and prominent Afenifere chieftain, Abagun Kole Omololu, as he marks his 70th birthday today.

In a heartfelt tribute, Governor Aiyedatiwa described Omololu as “a steadfast voice in the Yoruba socio-political space,” whose decades of public service have been defined by courage, consistency, and a profound commitment to both cultural heritage and national development.

The Governor particularly highlighted Omololu’s active role in Nigeria’s democratic struggle, noting that he belongs to “a generation of patriots who stood firmly against authoritarian rule and made personal sacrifices in the fight for democracy.” Aiyedatiwa pointed to Omololu’s involvement with NADECO Abroad, which he said “helped project the June 12 cause beyond Nigeria’s borders and strengthened global advocacy for the return to civil rule.”

Aiyedatiwa also praised Omololu’s enduring dedication to the unity and progress of the Yoruba people through his position as National Organising Secretary of Afenifere. According to the Governor, his contributions have been “thoughtful, principled, and guided by a clear moral compass.”

The Governor further acknowledged Omololu’s loyalty to the nonagenarian leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, one of the founding fathers of Ondo State, and commended his alignment with progressive ideals and democratic governance in Nigeria.

As Abagun Kole Omololu celebrates this milestone, Governor Aiyedatiwa prayed that God grants him continued strength, sound health, wisdom, and grace, so that his experience and service may remain a blessing to the nation and future generations.
