The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has proudly said that Ogun State stands at the forefront of agricultural production in Nigeria.

He made this bold statement during the launch of the Produce for Lagos Programme and the ₦500 billion Offtake Guarantee Fund by the Lagos State Government.

Governor Abiodun emphasized the state’s unparalleled achievements in the agricultural sector.

He said, “Today, Ogun State is number 1 in Cassava, Eggs, Poultry products, and Rice production in Nigeria”.

According to Governor Abiodun, Ogun State’s agricultural success can be attributed to its robust farmers’ information system and dashboard, which enables the identification of all farmers in the state.

“Ogun State is far ahead in Agriculture with the farmers information system and a dashboard that allows them to identify all farmers in Ogun state with over 60,000 farmers currently registered on the platform,” he said.

This advanced system has undoubtedly played a crucial role in the state’s ability to track and support its farming community effectively.

The Produce for Lagos Programme, launched by the Lagos State Government, aims to boost food security, reduce imports, and enhance agricultural productivity across Nigeria.

The programme is backed by a ₦500 billion Offtake Guarantee Fund, designed to provide working capital for bulk traders, finance for logistics operators, liquidity for aggregators, and credit support for food producers nationwide.

This initiative seeks to create a more efficient and sustainable agricultural ecosystem, benefiting both farmers and consumers alike.

With Ogun State’s proven track record in agricultural production, it is well-positioned to benefit from initiatives like the Produce for Lagos Programme.

The state’s agricultural prowess not only contributes to national food security but also demonstrates its potential for economic growth and development through sustainable agricultural practices.
