Nigerian automaker Nord Cars has announced the release of its entry-level brand new electric vehicle (EV), priced at ₦16 million.

The announcement was made by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Ajayi Oluwatobi, who described the development as a major step toward affordable electric mobility in Nigeria.

Nord Cars, which has been at the forefront of promoting locally assembled vehicles, said the new EV model is designed to make clean and sustainable transportation accessible to a wider range of Nigerians.

Industry watchers note that the move comes at a time of growing interest in electric vehicles across Africa, amid rising fuel costs and a global push for greener alternatives.

With the introduction of the ₦16 million EV, Nord Cars joins the ranks of automakers seeking to bridge the affordability gap and expand Nigeria’s electric vehicle market.
