The Presidency has denied circulating reports of Senator George Akume’s replacement as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

This was contained in a tweet by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday, seen by The Yoruba Times.

Onanuga tweeted that there has been no change in Akume’s status, and he continues to hold the position.

He stated, “The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it.” He advised Nigerians to disregard the fake news.

The Presidency attributed the false reports to “agents of mischief” who are fabricating stories to mislead the public.

“There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” the statement read.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.”

The clarification aims to put to rest speculations and misinformation surrounding Akume’s position.

The Presidency urged the public to rely on verified sources for information.
