Nigerian-Yorùbá Space Scientist Sends Òyó’s Egusi Seeds to Outer Space in Historic First

Dr. Temidayo Oniosun, a renowned Yorùbá space scientist, is set to make history by sending Egusi seeds from Òyó State to Outer Space.

The seeds will be launched as part of a NASA resupply mission to the International Space Station on July 31st from Cape Canaveral in Florida.

According to Dr. Oniosun, “I am sending Egusi seeds to Outer Space to assess its suitability for nutritional and functional applications in long term human space exploration.

“This is the first time in history seeds from Nigeria will be going to space. The Egusi seeds from Òyó State will be sent as part of NASA resupply mission to the International Space Station on July 31st from Cape Canaveral in Florida.” He added.

This pioneering research aims to explore the potential of Egusi seeds in supporting long-term human space exploration, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s space exploration history.
