A Nigerian YouTuber, Yinka Ayanda (Yinka TNT), has blown the whistle on a human trafficking ring allegedly operated by Alhaja Shakirat Yusuf, also known as Alhaja Uganda or Mama Uganda. According to Yinka, over 100 Nigerian girls have been trafficked to Iraq and other Arab countries.
Yinka revealed that some of the victims reached out to her, sharing their harrowing experiences and seeking help to return to Nigeria.
During her live YouTube program, Yinka revealed that Alhaja Shakirat Yusuf contacted her after being exposed in Yinka’s initial video. Yinka shared that Alhaja Shakirat called her twice, eventually getting through when Yinka was less busy.
According to Yinka, Alhaja Shakirat denied most of the allegations, claiming her actions were intended to help the women.
An audio recording, played by Yinka TNT and obtained by The Yoruba Times, captures Alhaja Shakirat Yusuf (aka Alhaja Uganda) making startling claims:
“I possess a labor license from the Nigerian Government to recruit girls for househelp jobs abroad.”
“Our workers are organized through WhatsApp groups. Any of my girls found in prison are those who fled their workplaces and were apprehended by Iraqi authorities.”
“I don’t charge the ladies for my services; instead, I receive commissions from Iraqi companies.” Alhaja said.
The victims alleged that Alhaja Shakirat lured them with promises of employment as househelps, only to subject them to exploitation and abuse.
Victims of Alhaja Shakirat Yusuf’s alleged human trafficking ring shared their harrowing experiences with Yinka TNT.
Miss Isaac Odunayo Eniola, one of the victims, expressed concerns about her safety in Iraq, highlighting the dire situation faced by Nigerian laborers.
Another anonymous victim revealed: “They beat Nigerians, give them injections to make them behave like lunatics… and many other horrific things.”
In an audio conversation played by Yinka, Alhaja Shakirat where she claimed to have a labor license from the Nigerian government to traffic girls abroad for househelp jobs was disputed by some of the victims who shared accounts of beatings, injections to control their behavior, and poor living conditions.
Miss Isaac Odunayo Eniola, expressed concern for her life in Iraq, while many anonymous victims described the horrific conditions they faced.
A man who identify himself as Fire shared his experience as well, stating that Alhaja Shakirat failed to deliver on promised job opportunities, leaving him and six others stranded in Iraq.
Fire stated that Alhaja Uganda failed to deliver on promised job opportunities for him and six others in 2020.
“They were deceived,” Fire said.
Yinka’s exposé has sparked outrage, with many calling for Alhaja Shakirat’s immediate arrest and prosecution.
