The Federal Executive Council has scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development.

A new Ministry of Regional Development will oversee regional commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, North-West, South-West, and North-East Development Commissions.

This move is part of a broader restructuring effort, but not a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s political economy.

The change affects the ministry lineup, now consisting of 34 ministries, including Agriculture, Aviation, Defence, Education, and others.
