Members of the organised Labour, including the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and its counterpart, Trade Union Congress (TUC), in Oyo State were absent at the main bowl of the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba venue of the 63rd Independence anniversary in the state.

Governor Seyi Makinde was also represented at the event.

Only students from both public and private schools from across the state participated in the event.

The arrival of the deputy governor at about 10:00 a.m. officially signalled the commencement of the event.

The venue and the surrounding environment were low in the level of funfair, pump, and pageantry usually associated with such events.
