The Niger-Delta Ethnic Solidarity Front (NDESOF) has issued a strong warning against the inclusion of their ancestral lands in the proposed Biafra state.
In a statement, NDESOF rejected attempts to impose Biafra on their territories, citing concerns of social upheaval and violent takeover.
The statement, signed by Marcus Okoruma, Ehonwa Osagie, and Kingsley Omatsola, condemned the alleged plan by Biafra agitators to annex their land, describing it as “tyranny” and “imperialism.”
The group accused the Igbo people of seeking to “steal the oil resources of the indigenous people” and warned that the agenda of Biafra would be “worse than what Nigeria is doing and has done to ethnic minorities.”
NDESOF also criticized the acclaimed new Prime Minister of Biafra for listing territories in the Niger Delta and Middle Belt as part of Biafra without consultation.
The group described this move as “genocide in progress” and vowed to resist the plot.
The Niger-Delta Ethnic Solidarity Front has launched a massive mobilization of oil-producing communities to assert their right to self-determination and resist Biafra.
The group warned that the South East’s attempt to colonize them would not be tolerated, citing the traumatic experiences of their parents during the last civil war.
The rejection of Biafra by Niger-Delta ethnic groups highlights the complex and sensitive nature of the Biafra agitation. It also underscores the need for inclusive and respectful dialogue among various ethnic groups in Nigeria.
