The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has made another significant arrest in its ongoing efforts to rid the country of counterfeit and fake products in Nigeria.

In a daring operation, NAFDAC officials arrested a notorious fake drinks manufacturer, Anthony Chidi, at his hideout in Mile III Market, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to sources within NAFDAC, Anthony Chidi had been on the agency’s radar for several months, following a series of complaints from consumers and manufacturers about the proliferation of fake drinks in the market.

A thorough investigation was conducted, which led to the identification of Chidi’s manufacturing facility in Port Harcourt.

NAFDAC officials, accompanied by law enforcement agents, stormed Chidi’s facility and caught him red-handed, manufacturing fake drinks bearing the labels of popular brands.

The officials seized large quantities of the fake products, as well as equipment and materials used in their production.

The Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, praised the agency’s officials for their diligence and bravery in carrying out the operation.

β€œThis arrest is a testament to our commitment to protecting the health and well-being of Nigerians,” she said.

β€œWe will continue to work tirelessly to identify and prosecute those involved in the production and distribution of fake and counterfeit products.”

Anthony Chidi is currently in custody and is facing charges related to the manufacture and sale of fake products.

NAFDAC has warned consumers to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activities or products to the agency.
