N150m poultry farm demolished, 5,000 birds killed, Abuja farmer cries out

Akomolafe Bankole, a poultry farmer and owner of Henrich Banks Farm in Lokogoma, Abuja, has expressed devastation and anger over the demolition of his N150 million farm by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

In a series of videos posted on his X account, Bankole revealed that the demolition resulted in the death of over 5,000 birds and the loss of jobs for 50 workers.

He claimed that the demolition was carried out without prior notice or warning, despite having all necessary documents, including the Certificate of Occupancy.

Bankole lamented, “I am heartbroken and angry. My N150 million investment was destroyed by FCDA officials. No warning, no prior notice, just pure destruction. Over 5,000 birds are dead, and 50 workers have lost their jobs.”

He questioned the government’s actions, asking, “Why can’t I farm on my private property? I followed every legal process, obtained all necessary papers, including the C of O. Yet, some individuals in this government felt it was okay to destroy my lifetime investment.”

Bankole emphasized that the demolition affects not only him but also the families of his employees, who are now facing hardship.

He urged the government to explain why he cannot farm on his private property.
