The Chairman, Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tac Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, recently expressed his dismay at the poor funding of Nigerian universities.

Oyedele’s comments were sparked by the realization that professors in Nigerian universities earn a meager N400,000 per month.

Oyedele’s concern is rooted in his experience attending a course in the United States, where he learned that a professor earns a staggering $800,000 per annum.

This stark contrast between the earnings of professors in Nigeria and those in the US has left Oyedele feeling disturbed while speaking on National Television.

“Every time I realize that a professor is earning N400,000 per month, my heart bleeds,” Oyedele said, his voice filled with emotion.

β€œI have attended a course in the US before when a professor told me he was earning $800,000 per annum. The difference is staggering, and it’s a clear indication of the poor funding of our universities.”

Oyedele’s comments highlight the challenges faced by Nigerian universities, which have been plagued by inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and low staff morale.

The poor remuneration of professors is a major concern, as it affects their ability to deliver quality education and conduct research.

The Nigerian Government has been criticized for its failure to prioritize education, with many arguing that the sector deserves more funding.
