Maxwell Nweke detained in India for Illegal border crossing

Maxwell Nweke, a 34-year-old man, has been detained by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura, India, for attempting to illegally enter Bangladesh from India.

According to a BSF spokesperson, Maxwell was observed acting suspiciously along the India-Bangladesh border road, prompting his arrest.

The spokesperson stated that Maxwell’s arrest was made possible by specific intelligence, which led to the establishment of a checkpoint at Kaiyedhepa in Sepahijala district.

During the arrest, Maxwell provided information that led to the apprehension of an Indian tout, Suraj Prasad, who was attempting to flee the scene on a motorcycle.

Prasad is described as a notorious tout, and the BSF has been actively pursuing him.

The spokesperson emphasized that the BSF has increased its surveillance and operations along the 856 km India-Bangladesh border in Tripura to prevent infiltration, exfiltration, and cross-border crimes, including smuggling.

Maxwell, along with the Indian and other arrested foreigners, has been handed over to the police for investigation and will be produced before courts.
