The 2025 MASA Isonyin Half Marathon (MIHM) is set to take place on August 23rd, after receiving official certification from the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).

This year’s edition has received a significant boost with the Saderiren of Isonyin, HRH Γ€laiyeluwa Oba Abdulrasheed Omotayo Cossy Salami, extending his full support and royal blessing towards the success of the event.

“The MASA Isonyin Half Marathon is a welcome initiative that uplifts our youth and community. I give it my full royal blessing and urge all to support this noble cause,” the monarch stated.

The marathon is the brainchild of Dr. Muideen Adegboyega Salami, President of MASA Foundation, who remains committed to youth empowerment and grassroots development in Ogun State and beyond.

With the theme “Running for Exposure,” the 2025 edition aims to unearth athletic talent, promote a culture of healthy living, and showcase the rich traditions and hospitality of Isonyin in the Ijebu North East Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Over 2,500 runners from Nigeria and abroad are expected to participate in this vibrant and high-energy event.

Registration for the marathon will open at the end of April 2025, both online via (link unavailable) and at designated physical locations in Isonyin, Abeokuta, and Ijebu Ode.

To incentivize participation, cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, with the winner receiving ₦1.5 million, the runner-up ₦1 million, and the third-place finisher ₦750,000. All participants who complete the race will receive official certificates of participation.

According to Yeye Adesola Salami, Project Director of the MIHM, preparations are underway to ensure a professionally managed event with reliable race timing, hydration support, and a celebratory atmosphere.

“This marathon is not just a race – it’s a movement,” she said. “We are building a platform that brings people together, celebrates athletic excellence, and uplifts our community. We invite sponsors and partners to join this impactful journey.”

The organizers encourage corporate sponsors, organizations, and well-meaning individuals to support the event, with attractive branding opportunities available across various platforms.

The 2025 MASA Isonyin Half Marathon promises to deliver not just a race but a powerful celebration of resilience, community, and opportunity.

The inaugural edition in 2022 saw Adamu Shehu Muazu (Shagari) of Plateau State claim the men’s title, beating Kenya’s John Muiruri and home-grown runner Tosin Adedeji, while Hawawu Haruna emerged champion in the women’s category, followed by Charity Agofure and Fadekemi Olude.
