Makinde pledges to reconstruct, renovate Alaafin’s Palace

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has assured Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Adeyemi Owoade III, that his administration will reconstruct and renovate the palace.

The Governor made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the monarch.

According to Makinde, the renovation of the palace is part of the government’s efforts to preserve the cultural heritage of the state.

“We will reconstruct and renovate the Alaafin’s palace to ensure that it reflects the rich cultural heritage of our state,” Makinde said.

The Governor also expressed his administration’s commitment to working with traditional institutions to promote development and stability in the state.

Makinde stated that he had no regrets over the transparent selection process of the Alaafin, which he said was in line with tradition and the law.

“We had no regrets in the selection process of the Alaafin. It was transparent, and we followed the due process. We are committed to working with our traditional institutions to promote development and stability in our state,” Makinde said.

The Alaafin, Oba Owoade, thanked the governor for his pledge, expressing optimism that the renovation of the palace would enhance the dignity of the throne.

The monarch also commended Makinde for his commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of the state.

The development has been welcomed by the people of Oyo State, who see it as a positive step towards promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage.
