The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has ordered foreign airlines operating in Nigeria to engage local caterers for on-board meals to boost local business.

A letter dated October 15, 2024, addressed to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), conveyed Keyamo’s directive, effective January 1, 2025.

“I am directed by the Honourable Minister of Aviation to convey to you his decision to mandate all out-bound flights from Nigeria, especially foreign airlines to patronize local caterers for on-board meals,” the ministry said.

“You are hereby directed to convey the decision to all foreign airlines for strict compliance beginning from 1st of January, 2025.”

This policy shift aims to empower Nigerian catering companies and stimulate economic growth.

Keyamo’s initiative follows his earlier appeal to Nigerians to support local airlines on international routes.

The directive is expected to benefit numerous Nigerian catering businesses, creating jobs and increasing revenue.

As the aviation sector continues to grow, Keyamo’s initiative will contribute to Nigeria’s economic prosperity.
