The family of Professor Banji Akintoye, a renowned Yoruba historian and national leader of the Yoruba self-determination movement, has announced the burial arrangements for his late wife, Mrs. Julia Olubusola Akintoye.
She passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 88.
A series of obsequies has been planned to honor her memory. The first event, a Service of Songs, will take place on Monday, February 24, at 5 pm at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Baale Street, Ishaga, Isolo, Lagos.
The final rites will be held in Ekiti State on Friday, February 28. A Christian Wake-Keep is scheduled for Thursday, February 27, at 5 pm at the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, Okesha, Ado-Ekiti.
On the day of the final rites, a Lying-in-State ceremony will be held at 10 am in the Church Hall of the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 am.
The dress code for the occasion is shades of purple.
A private interment will take place immediately after the service, followed by a reception at the Afe Babalola Foundation Civic Centre, Adebayo/Opopogbooro Street, Ado Ekiti. The reception is strictly by invitation.
