The ‘Ounje Eko’ initiative was launched to provide essential food items at discounted rates to residents, alleviating economic hardship .

The program offered staple food items such as rice, beans, garri, bread, eggs, tomatoes, and pepper at a discounted rate of 25 percent.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had established the Ounje Eko markets across the five divisions of Lagos State, with locations in Lagos Island, Ikorodu, Ikeja, Epe, and Badagry .

The initiative aimed to make food more affordable for residents, but its temporary closure may impact food pricing and availability in the state.
