LagRide Pledges Improved Operation

December 6, 2023 2 min read

LagRide, the Lagos State-owned drive-to-own scheme and transport agency, has pledged improved operations as it marked its first anniversary.

Launched in 2022 by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, LagRide said it aimed to empower enterprising Lagosians and enhance smart mobility solutions.

LagRide revealed in a statement that it started with a fleet size of 1,000 vehicles, 750 units of SUVs, and 250 units of Sedans under the supervision of Ibile Holdings Limited and Zenolynk Technologies Limited as the technology service provider.

LagRide stated that in the last one year, it met some of its objectives and appreciated the captains who strived to ensure that mobility needs of Lagosians were met daily.

β€œWe consider our dedicated captains and esteemed riders our greatest asset and strive to ensure superb experience for both.

β€œNotwithstanding, we acknowledge that the last year has not been without its challenges and lessons – not unusual for such an operation in its early days,” it stated.

However, the operator assured that the newly-appointed executive management of Ibile Holdings Limited was committed to an improvement in the company’s operations through a revalidation process in the area of vehicle allocation.

LagRide said it would ensure that vehicles were allocated only to eligible individuals who would use them strictly for smart mobility services, under the approved drive-to-own structure, which affords the driver eventual ownership of the vehicle after all obligations have been met.

β€œThe revalidation exercise is extensive and may be misrepresented by some unscrupulous elements working against the success of the scheme. We kindly ask for the public’s understanding and confidence as we restore the scheme’s mandate,” it added.
