Lagos Police nabs 7 Traffic Robbery Suspects

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended seven suspects believed to have been involved in traffic robberies in the state.

Among the arrested suspects was an ex-convict who was released from the Ikoyi Correctional Centre just three days prior to the arrest.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the police command, confirmed the arrests to reporters on Tuesday.

The suspects were apprehended while allegedly committing a robbery in the Ijora-Apapa axis around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police authorities are conducting further investigations into the matter to gather more evidence and determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement in the reported crimes.

β€œA well coordinated operations by the patrol teams of the Ijora Badia Police Division led to the arrest of suspects at different locations on the Total Bridge, along Apapa – Ijora Badia areas.

β€œOne of the suspects, simply identified as Kingsley, 43, was released from Ikoyi Correctional Facility three days before his arrest. Other suspects are between ages 19 and 25. They were allegedly robbing motorists.

β€œPreliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of a syndicate who are in the habit of robbing motorists on Total Bridge, Ijora Badia. The police have been on their trail for sometimes,” he said.

The state’s command image maker added that the suspects would be arraigned in court after the completion of investigation.
