Lagos Landlord Bags Life Jail for Defiling Tenant’s Children

November 21, 2023 2 min read

For a Lagos landlord, the remaining part of his life will be spent in prison for forcefully having carnal knowledge of his tenants children.

An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos State sentenced the culprit, Igwe Ambrose, a 65-year-old landlord, to double life imprisonment for sexual assault.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency disclosed this in a statement posted on its X handle on Monday.

According to the statement, the landlord committed the offences at Shagari Estate, Ipaja, between January and June 2021.

The statement read: “Ambrose was found guilty of inserting fingers into the private parts of his tenant’s children. The survivors are aged seven and 11.

“He was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child.”

The judge, Abiola Soladoye, described the landlord as a “dirty old man” who fingered and touched the breasts of the survivors on the pretext of helping them with their school assignments.

Soladoye sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment for count one and count two each; while counts three and four carried seven years jail term each.

The statement added that his name will be registered in the Sexual Offenders Register as maintained by Lagos State.
