Renowned Fuji music legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has debunked reports alleging unruly behavior during an attempted boarding of a ValueJet flight on August 5, 2025.

In a detailed statement released on Wednesday, K1’s camp described the circulating narrative as “exaggerated and misleading,” clarifying that the incident involved a bottle of plain drinking water given to him at the airport lounge not a prohibited substance, as widely speculated.

“At no point did K1 act in a manner that endangered lives or breached aviation protocols,” the statement read.

The statement emphasized that contrary to claims that the artist caused disruptions or blocked the aircraft, K1 remained respectful and even attempted to clarify the situation. However, the matter was allegedly escalated without justification.

Further shedding light on the event, the team noted that several senior aviation and airline officials — including the Head of Airport Security, representatives from FAAN and NCAA, and even the Chairman and MD of ValueJet — reached out personally to apologize for the misunderstanding. According to the statement, the airline went as far as offering K1 a private jet to Lagos at no cost, an offer which he graciously declined.

The statement also made it clear that only K1 and his personal assistant were involved, and that concerned passengers who witnessed the scene appealed to him to remain calm amidst the commotion.

In a significant development, it was disclosed that the pilot involved in the incident has had her license suspended, with suggestions from K1’s team that she may now be attempting to deflect blame.

As reactions continue to trail the event, the public and media have been urged to avoid sensational reporting and allow facts to lead discourse.

“K1 remains a law-abiding citizen and continues to cooperate fully with all relevant authorities to ensure that the matter is responsibly resolved,” the statement concluded.
