JUST IN π§π·π³π¬ποΈ: Alaafin Joins International Conference as Brazil Celebrates Oyo’s Yoruba Heritage
His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I, the Alaafin of Oyo, joined scholars, cultural leaders, government representatives, traditional custodians, and members of the Yoruba diaspora at the international conference themed “Oyo: A City of Yoruba Cultural Heritage” in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
The conference featured the presentation of the publication Oyo: A City of Yoruba Cultural Heritage and highlighted Oyo’s historical, cultural, and spiritual significance. It marks another major step in the international recognition of Oyo and forms part of ongoing efforts toward its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while reinforcing the enduring cultural ties between Yorubaland and Afro Brazilian communities.
