The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) to take over the investigation into the death of Jimoh Abdulqaudri, who died in police custody in Kwara State.

The IGP’s swift action demonstrates his commitment to justice and accountability.

Abdulqaudri passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, while in police detention.

The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, but the police have faced accusations of brutality. The IGP’s decision to involve the FCID ensures that the investigation will be thorough and impartial.

In a show of solidarity, the IGP visited the family of the deceased in Kwara State on Sunday, December 22, 2024.

He was received by the Balogun Fulani of Ilorin, Alhaji Sadiq Atiku Fulani, who spoke on behalf of the family.
