Ibadan-based teacher murdered in LagosA teacher, Idowu Hamzat, aged 36, has been reportedly murdered in Lagos.Three suspects are said to have been detained in connection with the crime.

It is believed that the teacher was enticed from his home in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. However, the motive behind this heinous act remains unknown. The suspects identified as Kazeem Apena, Agbomeji Nojeem and Omobowale, along with others who are still at large, allegedly beat Hamzat to death.

Subsequently, they dumped his body in a bush located in the Eredo area of Epe.A witness from the area observed the brutal attack on the victim on Saturday night and promptly alerted a local vigilante group, who then contacted the police.

The discovery of a mobile phone and an ID card on the victim’s body aided in locating the deceased’s family members according to a source who pleaded anonymity.

The source explained, “He was attacked and killed by approximately 10 men, and nobody knew the reason behind it. The ID card found by the vigilante group indicated that he was a teacher in Ibadan.

By contacting the numbers on his phone, they were able to reach his parents, who were shocked to learn that their son was in Epe, as he had never been there before.

“Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the arrest of the suspects and stated that they had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Yaba for further investigation.
