Group urges Tinubu: “Empower whistleblowers to fight corruption and recover stolen funds

“The George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN) has made a plea to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to instruct law enforcement agencies to collaborate with whistleblowers in resolving crimes and retrieving stolen funds.

Dr. George Uboh, the Chairman of GUWN, emphasized the importance of whistleblowers in exposing corruption and misconduct, stressing the need to shield them from retaliation. Dr. Uboh also called for the implementation and reinforcement of the whistleblower policy, including the establishment of an independent office to safeguard and provide compensation for whistleblowers.

The group highlighted the significance of appointing an individual with prior whistleblowing experience to lead the office and ensure the protection of whistleblowers from any adverse treatment.
