Governor Mbah approves N80,000 minimum wage for Enugu workers

The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has announced the approval of an N80,000 minimum wage, effective October 2024.

This move reflects the Governor’s commitment to improving worker welfare and driving economic growth in the state.

According to Governor Mbah, the new minimum wage is part of a broader strategy to enhance productivity and economic growth by ensuring workers are adequately compensated

“I have just approved a minimum wage of N80,000 for Enugu workers, effective October 2024.

“We appreciate the hard work and sacrifices of the state’s workforce and will continue to prioritise their welfare in line with our campaign promises,” he wrote.

The Governor expressed his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of workers in the state, stating that the decision reflects their belief in the value of labor as a creator of wealth.

The implementation of the new minimum wage is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of Enugu workers, with further details on the implementation to be provided in due course .
