Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced a reward of N5 million and a bungalow for Kayode Adewale, a mathematics teacher who was recently shortlisted for the $1 million Global Teacher Prize.
Adewale, who teaches at Imagbon/Imaka Comprehensive High School, was named among the top 50 finalists for the prestigious prize.
Governor Abiodun praised Adewale’s “unwavering commitment to educational excellence” and commended his innovative teaching methods, which include using technology to teach mathematics in the local language.
“As a state that prides itself on being the education capital of Nigeria, we are immensely proud to celebrate one of our own, Kayode Adewale,” Governor Abiodun said.
“Today, as a government committed to fostering excellence, we are proud to honor Kayode Adewale as the Ogun State Education Ambassador.”
Adewale will also receive a bungalow in any part of Ogun State of his choice, in addition to the cash prize.
This recognition comes after Adewale won the Best Teacher Award in Ogun in 2020.
