A disastrous flood hits major streets in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes.

According to report, the flood, which began a week ago, reached its peak on Tuesday, displacing many residents of Fori, Galtimari, Gwange, and Bulabulin.

The Borno State Government had earlier taken precautionary measures by closing schools due to warnings that the flood could worsen within 48 hours.

The State-owned Broadcasting Station BRTV, Post Office on Shehu Laminu way, and Custom Area were severely affected by the floodwaters.

A source revealed that the Alao Dam collapsed on Tuesday, posing a significant threat to Maiduguri residents.

A victim described the floodwaters overflowing the Fori bridge, which connects Fori and Galtimari to Tashan Bama, sweeping through homes with incredible force. Many residents were forced to abandon their homes, seeking safety elsewhere, while others carried their belongings on their heads.

The situation remains dire, with thousands displaced and many more affected by the devastating flood.
