EXCLUSIVE: Yoruba Union Labels Akpabio “Tinubu’s Stooge,” Accuses Senate President of Plotting 2027 Election Sabotage

The Yoruba Union, ÌgbΓ¬nmΓ³ MΓ‘jΓ©kΓ³bΓ‘jΓ© IlΓ©-YorΓΉbΓ‘, has launched a scathing attack on Senate President Godswill Akpabio, branding him a “stooge” of President Bola Tinubu and accusing him of a deliberate plot to sabotage Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a strongly-worded statement issued by its Convener, Olusola Badero, the Union alleges that Akpabio unilaterally rejected the mandatory real-time electronic transmission of election results to INEC’s portalβ€”a move it claims is designed to facilitate massive electoral manipulation in favor of the ruling APC.

“The Senate has knowingly undermined the integrity of elections and opened wider the doors for manipulation, rigging, and disenfranchisement of the Nigerian people,” the statement declared.

The Union linked this action to a history of electoral violence, citing the assault of a female voter in Lagos and the killing of a PDP women leader in Kogi. It accused Akpabio of acting “under the instructions of the President” to subvert the digital process, even after a majority of senators had voted in support of electronic transmission.

In a direct broadside against President Tinubu, the statement added: “Tinubu claims to be a democrat but is using the National Assembly to take the country backwards… He wants to reclaim his seat by fire and force after Nigerians have rejected him due to his failed leadership.”

The Yoruba Union ended with a call to action, urging citizens to defend their votes as their only weapon against a system it claims is working to destroy the nation’s democratic future.
