Donald Trump took the oath of office as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, marking the beginning of his historic second term.

With one hand raised and the other resting on a Bible gifted by his mother, Trump solemnly swore to uphold the Constitution beneath the towering Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol.

Trump’s inauguration ceremony was initially planned to take place outdoors, but due to the frigid weather, it was moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda for the first time in decades.

The ceremony had a significantly smaller audience, but was attended by prominent figures such as Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Sundar Pichai.

In his address, Trump vowed to act with “historic speed of strength” to fix every single crisis facing the United States.

He also promised to issue a series of immediate executive orders addressing immigration and cultural issues in the country.

Trump’s swearing-in ceremony marked the culmination of his remarkable political comeback. At his first inauguration in 2017, Trump was a political outsider, but now, at 78, he is surrounded by America’s elite.

The incoming President is expected to sign over 200 executive orders on his first day, including those related to immigration, border security, energy, and governance.

Trump has also promised to declare a national emergency at the southern border and halt all illegal entry into the country.

Outgoing President Joe Biden welcomed Trump to the White House, saying “Welcome home.” Trump’s deputy, JD Vance, was also sworn in during the ceremony.

Trump’s inauguration marks the beginning of a new era in American politics, with the President vowing to bring about “a brand new day of American strength and prosperity, dignity and pride”
