Covenant University ranked Nigeria’s best varsity in 2025

Covenant University has emerged as the top-ranked university in Nigeria, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking for 2025.

The ranking, which evaluates universities based on various criteria, including teaching, research, and international outlook, placed Covenant University at the top of the list, followed closely by Ahmadu Bello University and Landmark University.

The University of Ibadan and the University of Lagos also made it to the top five, ranking fourth and fifth respectively. Other notable universities that made it to the top 20 include Bayero University, Federal University of Technology Akure, and the University of Benin.

The full list of the top 44 universities in Nigeria, according to the THE 2025 ranking, is as follows:
