There is palpable tension in Iree community, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State as Oba Muritala Oyelakin insists on violating the court order which stopped his coronation today.

In a restraining order obtained by our correspondent on Friday, Justice Micheal Awe stopped the presentation of staff of office to Oba Oyelakin, the second king appointed by the Osun State Government.

It will be recalled that two kings emerged as the Aree of Iree after Adeleke discountenanced the appointment of Oba Ademola Ponnle by his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola and appointed Muritala Oyelakin as second king.

Subsequently, today 4th of May 2024 was fixed for the presentation of the certificate, instrument and staff of the office to Oyelakin as the Aree of Iree.

However, Justice Awe of a state High Court sitting in Ikirun, Osun State in suit number HOS/20/2024 restrained Governor Ademola Adeleke, his government and four traditional chiefs, including Oyelakin, from going ahead with the presentation of Staff of Office.

The judge fixed the hearing on the matter to Wednesday 8th May, 2024.

Meanwhile, the embattled Oyelakin in a video posted online on the Honourable FM’s Facebook handle insisted that that ceremony would be held as planned and implored community residents to be in attendance.

A security source told our correspondent that the loyalists and sympathisers of Oba Ponnle and those who were not pleased with the embattled monarch(Oyelakin) had perfected plans to cause a riot.

It was learnt that youths of the town had been mobilised to pelt dignitaries with stones during the ceremony.
